AIA Recognizes MID Community

As part of its 2014 architectural design and honor awards, the Colorado Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (and its local sections) recognized last week many local architectural firms—and two individuals whose names appear in the fall issue of Modern In Denver!

Congratulations to MID writer Beth Mosenthal, Associate AIA at Gensler, who was awarded Intern of the Year! The award recognizes the individual achievements of an architectural intern as demonstrated through community involvement, design skills, and dedication to the profession. Mosenthal contributed two stories for the fall issue of Modern In Denver.

Taking home the award for Architect of the Year is Jeff Sheppard, AIA of Roth Sheppard Architects. Sheppard and his team are the architects behind our cover story on the Denver Art Museum administration building

AIA’s Architect of the Year award recognizes one of the following fields of achievement: outstanding service to the profession of architecture in Colorado, outstanding service in the field of architectural education, outstanding achievement in the field of design or allied arts to the benefit of the profession of architecture, outstanding public service to the people of Colorado or outstanding service to the building industry of Colorado.

In addition to Sheppard’s individual award, the firm was recognized with Merit Awards—one for the Denver Art Museum administration building and another for Izakaya Den.

Congratulations to all the winners for elevating the profession and to Mosenthal and Sheppard for enhancing our MID community.
