Actasana’s Premier Play Production of Two for the Seesaw premieres
December 6 – December 22, 2013
Originally opening to rave reviews in 1958, Two for the Seesaw was playwright William Gibson’s first major hit on Broadway. The original show ran for 2 years on Broadway, and starred Henry Fonda and the then unknown actress Anne Bancroft. It was made into a film three years later with Robert Mitchum and Shirley MacLaine taking over the roles.
A perfect blend of comedy and drama, Two for the Seesaw is the story of a Nebraska lawyer (played by accomplished Denver actor Brian Esau) who moves to New York to escape his marriage and has a brief but passionate affair with a quirky and eccentric dancer (played by Denver’s young and talented Caitlin Conklin). Step back into 1950’s New York City and witness this funny heartfelt production.
Actasana’s intimate jewel box theatre, The Namastage, is a unique setting for the production that features Denver stage actors Caitlin Conklin, Brian Esau, and director Lea Marlene.
In addition to featuring a Mid-Century Modern set and furniture, the gallery at Actasana will be featuring photos from two Modern in Denver photographers, Crystal Allen and David Lauer. Crystal is an editorial and portrait photographer, with a style that’s colorful and playful. In this exhibit she captures the flirt & flair of 1960’s fashion. Complimenting this will be architectural photography from David Lauer, highlighting some beautiful mid-century modern homes.
