By David Ross

David Ross attended the Glasgow School of Art, thereafter pursuing a masters from the University of Glasgow in Product Design Engineering. His designs speak to the notions of nature, music, and physical cosmology. With a poetic approach to design, David Ross constructed the Lily Chair to encourage informal dining in living spaces that may not be able to accommodate permanent dining areas. The Lily Chairs are plyformed stacking chairs: when stacked, they function as a single chair, when separated, they function as two separate chairs. The designer hopes to increase a sense of wellbeing through communal dining without cumbersome dining sets. The Lily Chairs were first shown in September 2011 at Tent London.
