The Lynwood neighborhood (bordered by E. Evans, S. Monaco, E. Florida and S. Holly) is well known for its concentration of Mid-Century Modern floor plans. Perhaps less known, although steadily increasing in popularity, is the recent opening of Emerge Salon on the corner of E. Florida and S. Holly.
Emerge Modern Salon opened at the start of the year, adding to its location's historical roots. The salon was created by husband and wife team, Rick and Ivy Overby. Ivy has been a practicing stylist in Denver for over 15 years and Rick is a designer, with experience in fine art, color consulting and lighting design. Rick has also worked in architecture firms for 16 years.
The goal behind the concept was to do something fresh and modern, without being overly designed. It was important to create an environment that felt warm, spa-like, an oasis for clients to come and relax. The couple lives in Lynwood and Rick says they both appreciate a modern, simple aesthetic, so the concept came quite naturally.
Other natural qualities of the interior design include the use of sustainable materials. From LED lighting to cork floors to the reclaimed art work hanging above the wash station. All of the furniture was custom built using walnut plywood. Emerge also specializes in offering organic product lines.
Additionally, Rick says they focus heavily on being a business that integrates well into the neighborhood. Many people living in Lynwood appreciate modernism, creating the opportunity for Emerge to enrich the overall living experience of the area. Keeping service prices at an incredibly reasonable level is another way the salon has been able to gain rapid momentum.
