PLYpanels by Alexander Girard

Innovative designer Alexander "Sandro" Girard led Herman Miller's textile division from 1952 to 1973 bringing vibrant color, traditional folk art and new life to the furniture designs of George Nelson and Charles and Ray Eames. In collaboration with Girard's estate, Columbia Forest Products has reissued select artwork by the designer first used as part of the 1970s Herman Miller Environment Enrichment Panel program. Drawing on Girard's history of printing directly on wood, PLYprints are produced using water-based inks on formaldehyde-free plywood panels. The purity of Girard's iconic graphics printed on the humble material perfectly captures his history of mixing modern materials and folk art forms to create accessible art. Available at designpublic
