WELCOME TO modernindenver.com

Modern is more than a design aesthetic. It’s a state of mind. Our state.
Our mission is to celebrate modern design and living in Denver, Colorado. But we balk at the walls of limitation that a title constructs! MID is also a platform for discussing and exploring outside-the-box ways of living that are inspired by modern thinking, design and practices. Our quarterly print magazine Modern In Denver and this web site will bring you stories, reviews, profiles, and interviews on cool products, great art, architecture & design. We will profile inspiring, creative and passionate people whose vision helps shape modern Denver. You can now subscribe to Modern In Denver and have it delivered right to your door. You can also stay in the loop on new stories, events and other modern happenings by subscribing to our email network. We are currently workng on our gallerey section which will feature photos of as many of the modern homes and buildings in Denver and Colorado that we can collect and or shoot. It should be up by late Spring. A section that will provide a history of modernism and Denver is also in the works. We will be continually adding interesting content, so stop by often and see what we are up to!

  • x Indelible Inc. thinks MID is just what Denver needs

We have been waiting for a publication like Modern In Denver for a long time. It is about time Denver’s great architects, artist and designers get the exposure they deserve!

I'm thrilled with so many things you're doing. The editorials feature great projects, of course, but they do an absolute stellar job of referencing the products and people/companies who were sourced to bring the project together. In a very short amount of space, you do a wonderful job of communicating how the user lives/works in the space, how the client and designer/architect worked together through the process to the end product. I like your focus on internationally known designers like the Bouroullecs and Joe Colombo. How many people locally do you think know who any of them are? until now. Bravo.

  • x David Morris thinks we go beyond quality design

Modern In Denver goes beyond merely presenting quality design…revealing the unique stories and thinking behind the work.’   ‘Modern In Denver seems to tease out some of the areas refreshingly unique design talent with a refreshingly modern design perspective.’   ‘Finally a forum to dialogue and display Denver’s often overlooked modern design traditions’

  • x Michael Webber thinks we are visionary

Modern in Denver stylishly and comprehensively educates about the cultural trends, designs and minds behind one of the 20th century’s most misunderstood movements. For most of Historic Denver’s four decades of preserving and protecting the architectural vestiges of Denver’s 150-year past, popular thought has held that “historic” stops at the Victorian manse or the arts and crafts bungalow. Our 21st century challenge, as post war neighborhoods and communities are increasingly recognized as historic, is to identify, protect & preserve our wealth of mid-century neighborhoods. To this end, we see an able and visionary partner in MID. Modern in Denver Magazine’s multi-faceted approach to the study of not only the dwellings & objects of the mid-century existence, but the spirit, philosophies & thinkers behind them, is what makes appreciation of the period relevant in a whole and interesting way.

" It is great to have a publication that follows design where you live. Everything from architecture, furniture design, local shops, and artists." Jodi Rathbun Furniture Merchant / Denver Room&Board

  • x Alex Smith is thrilled to have MID as a local point of reference

"Modern in Denver is a premier literary showcase for all things modern in the Denver area. I look forward to each issue where I can explore everything from new modern buildings and renovations of older homes to home decorating ideas, innovative local businesses and places of interest.  As a resident of Arapahoe Acres, one of the Denver metro area’s mid-century modern neighborhoods, I am thrilled to have Modern in Denver as a local point of reference."

  • x Tom Brainard loves how we depict the creative and progressive spirit of Denver

I was born and raised in Denver, moved to Los Angeles for nine years and then moved back home. There’s no place like Denver. It’s hard to stay gone for long. I will say, however that Los Angeles provided me with something I had not previously known. It is a quality that was distant from my adolescent perception, but is growing more and more in Denver. It is the quality of creativity, progress and shattered glass ceilings. In LA, if you can dream it, there are avenues that will embrace your journey, however difficult. I can feel that now in Denver and this magazine exemplifies this quality in every way. In content I have found MID to examine that which depicts the creative and progressive spirit, in architecture, design and beyond. Even as a model, the magazine itself is the living, breathing spirit of that which is growing so quickly in my home town and for that reason I read every word. Bravo, I say. Bravo.
