Kenji Ashizawa built the Drawer Shelf to develop the functionality of furniture in a given space. The sliding motion of the wooden drawers minimalizes the appearance of a large storage space. The rails in the piece are constructed from bent and straight plates. Ordinarily hidden in dresser drawer furniture, the rails in the Drawer Shelf are exposed, highlighting the sliding motion and depth of the piece. Kenji Ashizawa built the drawers to appear as blocks of wood forming a stack of shelves, using the same rails for the box units to slide against one another.

Rock Paper Tree Design specializes in residential and commercial handcrafted pieces. Based in Vancouver, Rahim Tejani leads the creation of sustainable designs which represent the integration of simplicity and nature. The preservation of nature anchors Rock Paper Tree Design’s perspective.

In celebration of the Clyfford Still Museum opening, David B. Smith Gallery in partnership with the museum proudly presents a unique, site specific installation of works by Liz Miller. The exhibition, Recalcitrant Mimesis, uses Still’s erratic brushstrokes as a starting point. From there Miller uses a variety of materials — paper, felt, foam, and other tactile materials to literally bring Still’s brushstrokes to life. Using Still’s work solely as a departure point allows her work to inhibit sculptural space and create its own dynamic narrative.

The Companions Bedside Table is designed by Studioilse and manufactured by De La Espada. De La Espada is a design management firm managing De La Espada as well as five other brands. The Companions family of furniture is designed to support daily life. Companions Bedside, available in two heights, is constructed in solid chestnut with a removable cork bowl as storage for private bits.

Recognizing the constant overflow of wires on desks and in bags, The Other Edge created Spooled to protect ear buds and organize the cords. Made of silicone, the design mimicks the design of wooden thread spools. By placing the ear buds in the protective center and the jack through the bottom hole, you can securely wind the cord around the outer spool. The jack fits back inside the barrel, effectively solving an irksome mess.

Magnaclips, known for their practical home décor, released a flagship product line that features magnetic discs with a metal tie-back strip designed to hold curtains and drapes in place with a modern flourish. The Leno collection boasts zero installation that suits any style home, emboldened by limited materials. This basic, lightweight design allows easy adjustment: the magnetic halves connect while the metal tie-backs wrap around the curtain, holding the curtain in place without connection to the wall.

Amy Hunting’s Felt & Gravity Collection became the epicenter of her first solo exhibition in RAMgalleri in Oslo in 2011. Her work reevaluates the three-dimensional form of creation, represented in her pieces whose simple wooden structures display loops of colorful felt. These storage units reveal postulation in the exterior. As stated in the name, the Felt & Gravity Collection uses the gravity of objects, held up by felt, to exemplify the structure’s strength and simplicity.
