Chaircuterie packs a night of art and entertainment on Thursday, November 13, and we are excited to be the media sponsor of this event featuring 100 unique chair designs from Colorado creatives.
Today, we put a spotlight on one of the chair artists, Tomecek Studio Architecture. We caught up with founder Brad Tomecek who shared with us a peek behind the scenes at their chair design, inspiration, and process:
This stool was formed by taking the concept of solids dropping through a plane. On top, the stool deforms and ripples outward from each entry point, creating an interference pattern. The bottom plane is pulled and stretched where the hypothetical solids have dropped through, forming the legs of the stool.
We can’t wait to see the other creations at Chaircuterie, which will support AIGA Colorado mentorship programming and the Denver Art Museum’s Department of Architecture, Design, and Graphics—steward of the AIGA Design Archives. Learn more about the Chaircuterie artists and buy tickets online.
