COMMUNITY IN ACTION

Modern In Denver is committed to promoting and celebrating those in the creative community who help design and shape our modern world. A strong community places great value on giving back and helping others which is why we are proud to shine a spotlight on the Herman Miller and Workplace Resource “We Care” holiday event. 2013 marks the 12th year of this event that  teams up over 20 local design and architectural firms with the Boys & Girls club of Metro Denver to share the excitement of giving. Children of the Boys & Girls Club get to experience craft making and gift giving with the help of volunteers that set up special stations for them to explore.

SHIPPING CONTAINERS LAND ON LARIMER

Gravitas Development Group transforms old shipping containers into an exciting new project. In the newly renovated neighborhood off of 25th and Larimer, 29 shipping containers are brought back to life as retail, restaurant, and office spaces. This innovative idea allows for a mixed use space that creative people can benefit from, using once abandoned shipping containers as a platform for success. Gravitas Development Group’s Ryan Diggins gives us a tour of the new project and lets us know what it takes to transfer old shipping containers into what is sure to be one of downtown Denver’s most exciting new hot spots.

VISION AND PRECISION

Creating a simple, clean and harmonious  home and workplace was essential to help balance Scott and Heidi Mellin’s busy life and lifestyle. With a clear vision and keen sense of detail, they dove into both a remodel of  their mid-century modern home and a build out of new offices for the design firm that Scott runs. We talk to the Mellins about how they achieved  the resulting spaces and how important  detail and precision are in designing truly modern minimal space.
